Summary. Up here for auction is a vintage mabie todd swan sm205/63 fountain pen, which was manufactured in england circa 1937.The pen is in nice condition, in rare and highly sought after russett/jade marble the diverse mixture of mottled colors range from shades of fawn brown varied green pearl. The color is still very sharp and the body is glossy. The pen is pretty bold of overall length 5 inches. The pen is spuerbly detailed.
The swan imprint is impressive, with the model nmuber sm205/63 engraved at the end of the barrel. At the top of the cap a 'swan' logo is embossed, together with the imprint 'swan m2' embossed on the feed and section. A new ikn sac has been fitted to the pen.

Mabie & todd co ltd wsa started circa 1845, when henry todd and john mabie combined their business for the manufacture of pen holders, pencil cases and the other related products. Around 1878, the company began its production of fountain pens. The 'swan' pen trademark is firts adopted in 1884. In 1909 production of pens is begun in england and the tradmark 'swan, the pen of the british empire' comes itno use.
Eventually, 'swan' became another word for 'pen' in the popular lexicon. Around 1923, the firm began production of its lnie of 'eternal' pens, featured the lever fillers.
Thsee were very solid and well made pens, with several attractive colours available. Till now, swan fountain pens are highly sought after by collectors around teh world. Description. The cap.
